What is the check-in process for my child's class

For the convenience of the parents and the safety of the children, we use Lambs List secure, web-based children’s check-in system for families.

If you are a visitor, see a volunteer at the visitor counter where they will add your family to our system. Once you have been added, you will no longer need to go through the visitor counter.

5 Step check in process

1. Check in all children ages nursery-5th grade at the Children's Ministry counter with the help of one of our trained greeters. All kids must be checked in at the counter prior to entering their classrooms.

2. You will receive an adhesive nametag for children you check in that will include their name and randomly assigned ID number. Place the ID tag in a visible area on your child's clothing. 0 - 3 years old - place the name tag on their backs. All other kids we ask you place the nametags on the front of their shirt.

3. You will also receive a printed 'receipt' for child pick-up with the corresponding ID number. Should a receipt be lost, you will need to see a volunteer at the check-in counter who will issue you a new receipt upon verification of your ID.

4. Go directly to your child's classroom where their classroom teacher or assistant will greet you.

5. Your child's teacher will release your child only to persons with a receipt matching the ID number on your child's nametag.

Parents need for a receipt:

The “ID number” provided on the receipt will appear on the digital board on the right side of the sanctuary. Should your number appear, you would need to return to the classroom immediately and see what is needed for your child. You will also need the receipt in order to pick up your child from class.

Teachers need for a receipt:

Safety of the child. The receipt provides the teacher with immediate information about the child such as:

* Does he/she have any allergies?

* Does he/she have any medical conditions?

* Does he/she have any special needs?

* Only particular people can pick them up.

* Anything a parent deems necessary for the teacher to know about the child.

Our check-in system generates a randomly assigned ID code for each child each time you check in. This code is printed on a parent receipt as well as the child’s nametag.

All of our volunteers must fill out a ministry application that includes a background check to ensure the safety of your children.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes! Parents are encouraged to stay with their children, especially if the child is having difficulty adjusting to their new environment.

Will my child have the same teacher each week?

Since all of our teachers and helpers are volunteers, it is not possible to guarantee the same teacher every week. However, we do strive to provide consistency for the children by asking for a specified time commitment from the volunteers. Specifically, nursery and toddler volunteers serve on a once-a-month rotation, while K-5th grade volunteers commit to a three month quarter.

When does my child graduate to the next class?

  •      Babies and Toddlers will move up to their next classroom according to their birthdays. Just let us know at the check-in counter when your child has had a birthday and we will make the manual change in our system.
  •      Children in K-5th grade will graduate to their next classroom the first Sunday in September.
  •      6th grade students will join the Jr. High Ministry, Doulos, beginning the first Sunday in September. There may be occasions over the summer prior to entering 6th grade where these students will be included in Doulos activities.

How is a child disciplined if he/she misbehaves?

We will make every effort to be fair and consistent in our discipline of a child. We train all volunteers to look at misbehavior as an opportunity for discipleship. Corporal punishment or harsh words will not be used at any time to correct the child. The teacher will handle problems that arise in the classroom. If the child does not respond to correction, the Service Overseer will remove the child from class until the behavior is corrected. If for some reason a child refuses to cooperate, then the child's parent will be paged and/or contacted at the end of the service. Please be assured that our goal is to place the child back in class and participating as quickly as we can!

How does one become a teacher or helper in the Children's Ministry?

Because children are so important to us, the Children's Ministry has developed the following steps for those desiring to become involved. It is important to note that no one is placed in direct contact with our children until volunteers have gone through the following process:

1.  Fill out an application. Included in this application are questions regarding your commitment to Christ, fellowship habits, and reasons you want to be involved in the Children's Ministry. We ask that volunteers have attended Calvary South Denver for a minimum of 6 months.

2.  Two character references.

3.  Attend our quarterly Teachers/Helpers Fellowship-Training meeting.

Can I help?

If you would like to be involved, click here to download a ministry application, or drop by the Children's Ministry office, Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am 5:00 pm, and pick up an application. As soon as you fill it out, leave it with us, and we'll get the process going. We may also be contacted at 303-933-8733 or via email:
